Knit One 2 Save One Groups
Starting a Knit One 2 Save One Group is easy — after all, it’s just a bunch of folks getting together to knit, crochet and chat, nothing more, nothing less. It’s pretty much guaranteed that if you plan it (and “spread the word” in the right places) they will come. Here are some ideas to get your knitting and crocheting party started:
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION:
The best place to have a Knit One 2 Save One Group (ko2so Group) is in your own home. Just ask everyone to bring along a few snacks and some drinks for the evening so that you are not out of pocket. The downside of having the Group in your home is that if you are going out, are away or ill the meeting will not happen so we recommend you have a “second” home where the ko2so Group can meet if necessary. It can be a friend or another member of the ko2so Group. The important thing is to keep the ko2so Group going is consistency so the same time, day and place every week helps. No matter what evening you choose, there will always be a few people who won’t be able to make it, so don’t drive yourself crazy trying to please everyone. Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday nights are the best choice. A good starting time would be 7pm, which gives all the members enough time to get there after work without a lot of empty time in between.
SPREAD THE WORD:
Let the world know about your ko2so Group by setting up an email list online that makes it easy to email everyone at the same time (yahoogroups.com offers a good way to do this, as do some other web servers). Register your group on this site. Then, see if local knitting shops will let you post notices about the Group.
Include the time, place, and the e-mail address for signing up and getting info. And of course, if you see someone who’s knitting anywhere, ambush them and invite them to join!!
There are no ko2so Groups as yet. We are looking for pioneers!! Be the first to set up a ko2so Group and really make a difference.
